Renewable Properties, a developer and investor in small-scale utility, community solar, energy storage and EV infrastructure projects, has acquired 118 MW of Series 7 thin-film modules from First Solar’s U.S. manufacturing facilities.
The American modules will be used for solar projects that Renewable Properties is developing and constructing in 17 states. In California, 51 MW of the modules will be used for nine projects. Another 20 MW of modules will be allocated for four projects in New York, and 8 MW will be used for three projects in Illinois. In addition, 2 MW of the panels will be used for two projects in Minnesota. The remaining 37 MW of modules have been allocated toward other projects in the Renewable Properties pipeline.
“This purchase from First Solar will support Renewable Properties in continuing to drive forward solar energy in the U.S.,” said Aaron Halimi, Founder and CEO of Renewable Properties. “With domestically manufactured equipment secured to execute on these projects in multiple states, we’re on track to expand solar deployment at a time when electricity demand is increasing rapidly, while the solar industry faces new challenges. American-made solar panels are crucial to U.S. energy dominance, and sourcing domestically is a statement of confidence in American manufacturing and the jobs it supports.”
First Solar operates panel manufacturing facilities in Alabama, Louisiana and Ohio. A sixth plant, under construction in South Carolina, is expected to begin operation in the second half of 2026 and is forecast to increase First Solar’s U.S. nameplate module production capacity to approximately 17 GW in 2027.
“Genuinely American solar manufacturing directly enables American energy dominance,” said Dr. Mounir El Asmar, First Solar’s Head of Strategic Accounts. “By investing in domestically produced modules, Renewable Properties is putting that principle into practice and delivering affordable energy to communities across the country, while supporting American manufacturing, supply chains, and jobs.”
