Tango Holdings — a joint venture between Savion Equity (a subsidiary of Shell plc) and a fund managed by the Ares Infrastructure Opportunities strategy — has commenced commercial operations at two new solar projects in Indiana and Ohio, delivering a combined 200 MW of capacity to the U.S. grid.

Elkhart County Solar Project (Indiana): Construction began in August 2024 on a 100-MW facility, which spans 850 acres and includes approximately 245,000 modules on single-axis trackers. Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) has secured a PPA for the facility’s full output.

Marion County Solar Project (Ohio): The 100-MW facility commenced construction in November 2024 and comprises 245,000 modules on single-axis trackers across 750 acres. A long-term virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) has been executed with a Fortune 100 technology company for offtake of the facility’s full 100 MW of solar energy generation.

“Bringing these two solar projects to commercial operations underscores Savion’s priority of delivering domestic, cost-competitive power to the areas of the U.S. grid with the highest energy demand,” said Nick Lincon, president and chief executive officer of Savion. “Utility-scale solar is an available, deployable solution for strengthening the U.S. energy system today. We’re grateful to our partner Ares and the local officials and communities whose collaboration made these projects possible.”

“The successful energization of these projects demonstrates the disciplined execution and goal of long-term value creation that are central to Tango’s strategy,” said Steve Porto, partner in Ares Infrastructure Opportunities. “In partnership with Savion, we believe we are supporting high-quality solar assets that can scale efficiently and help meet growing demand for reliable, affordable electricity across the U.S.”

These sites represent two of five solar assets totaling 496 MW announced as part of the July 2025 joint venture. Four projects have now reached commercial operation, and the fifth project is currently under construction. Savion developed the projects and will serve as a project-managing JV member, with Shell Renewable Asset Management International overseeing ongoing asset management.
