Last year, Oregon-based Mark Jacobs was looking for a jigsaw puzzle that depicted American life in the countryside — but with solar. He was unable to find anything, so he set out to make his own.
The result is the 500-piece “Solar Farms in America” puzzle that is now available for purchase via Portland Puzzle: portlandpuzzle.
Jacobs is the Board VP for Twende Solar, a nonprofit dedicated to bring solar power to under-resourced communities. He is pledging 10% of the puzzle sales to the nonprofit.
“We need more Americans to see solar as a beautiful thing. Fingers crossed this little puzzle can play a small part in that,” he said.
Jacobs partnered with local artist Kathleen Russell on the puzzle design, which shows a rural landscape with farm equipment, plants and solar arrays.
