Media Release

Australia’s electricity landscape is changing rapidly, and energy storage is now at the centre of that transformation. Fox ESS has responded by launching a powerful new three-phase hybrid inverter designed to support larger solar and battery systems across homes and businesses. Announced this week, the new H3 PRO Hybrid Inverter significantly expands Fox ESS’s storage capabilities in the Australian market. The system is compatible with the Fox ESS’s EQ4800, CQ6, and EP battery series, enabling flexible configurations for both residential and commercial applications.

Built for a storage-led energy future

Australia’s grid is shifting away from fossil fuels and toward renewables supported by batteries. Large-scale storage projects are coming online at a lightning pace, and distributed systems in homes and businesses are following the same trajectory.

Industry data suggests the transition is already well underway. In the second half of 2025, renewable energy reached roughly half of total generation in the National Electricity Market, with batteries increasingly outperforming gas peaker plants during high-demand periods.

This rapid shift highlights why flexible storage solutions are becoming essential. Systems must now handle larger solar arrays, more complex loads, and evolving market conditions such as dynamic tariffs and virtual power plant participation.

The H3 PRO is positioned squarely for this new environment. It is a high-performance three-phase hybrid inverter available in models ranging from 15 kW to 30 kW, making it suitable for substantial residential installations as well as commercial sites.

Flexible battery configurations for real-world needs

One of the standout features of the H3 PRO is its support for dual independent battery inputs. This allows installers to design customised storage systems tailored to each property’s energy usage and future growth plans.

The inverter can support storage capacities from approximately 23.96 kWh up to 144 kWh when paired with two CQ6 battery stacks of 12 modules each. That scale moves well beyond typical household batteries and into serious energy independence territory.

For larger homes, small businesses, farms, or light industrial facilities, this flexibility can be a game-changer. It allows systems to be expanded over time rather than replaced, helping protect the original investment.

Fox ESS describes the product as designed to adapt to changing requirements, whether that means adding more storage later or optimising performance for different usage patterns.

“We aimed to create the most adaptable hybrid inverter available. Whether for a family home or a commercial site, the H3 PRO empowers installers and end users to scale, optimise, and future-proof their energy systems with confidence,” said Leo Ye, Head of Product at Fox ESS Australia.

High-performance solar integration

The H3 PRO also offers strong solar handling capabilities, ensuring large PV systems can operate efficiently without unnecessary limitations.

Key performance highlights include:

  • Up to 200 per cent PV oversizing
  • Three MPPTs with two strings per MPPT
  • Dual independent battery inputs
  • IP65 rating for indoor or outdoor installation
  • Built-in Wi-Fi and LAN connectivity
  • Real-time data display

A single CT meter enables comprehensive monitoring, while spare communication ports are prepared for RS485 connections, allowing integration with additional devices or systems. The inverter also includes in-app tools for meter checks, corrections, and one-click firmware upgrades.

These features aim to simplify installation and ongoing maintenance, reducing the need for site visits while keeping systems operating at peak performance.

Ready for virtual power plants and smart energy management

Virtual power plants (VPPs) are becoming a major part of Australia’s energy landscape. They allow thousands of distributed batteries to operate together, supporting the grid while generating revenue for participants.

The H3 PRO is fully VPP-ready and compatible with major platforms such as Amber and Origin Loop. It includes a five-second energy flow chart that provides near real-time monitoring, even during grid outages. This capability is particularly valuable for households and businesses seeking greater resilience. During blackouts, users can see exactly how energy is flowing between solar, battery, and loads, helping them manage consumption effectively.

Integration with FoxCloud 2.0 adds another layer of intelligence. The platform delivers AI-powered usage insights, remote settings access, and proactive troubleshooting tools for installers and system owners.

Designed with installers in mind

Beyond performance specifications, Fox ESS has focused on installation efficiency and long-term serviceability. Remote configuration capabilities allow installers to adjust settings without returning to the site, saving time and cost. Additional communication ports provide flexibility for future upgrades or integrations.

An optional cable cover improves aesthetics while protecting wiring, helping systems blend more neatly into residential or commercial environments. The inverter is also backed by a 10 year product warranty, providing reassurance for customers investing in large-scale storage systems.

A strategic expansion for the Australian market

With energy prices volatile and electrification accelerating, demand for robust storage solutions continues to grow. Three-phase systems in particular are becoming increasingly important as homes add electric vehicles, heat pumps, induction cooking, and other high-load appliances.

Commercial users face similar pressures, especially businesses seeking to reduce operating costs and emissions while improving energy security. By supporting large battery capacities, advanced monitoring, and VPP participation, the H3 PRO positions Fox ESS to compete strongly in this evolving market.

For consumers, it represents another step toward fully electrified, self-powered properties. For installers, it offers a flexible platform that can be tailored to a wide range of projects. As Australia moves deeper into its renewable future, products like the H3 PRO will play a critical role in ensuring solar generation can be stored, managed, and used when it matters most.
