Greater Whitsunday Alliance (GW3) and the Resources Centre of Excellence are spearheading a groundbreaking initiative set to redefine the regional approach to carbon reduction. Scheduled for May, the inaugural Decarbonisation Accelerated Summit marks a significant milestone in empowering local businesses to embrace decarbonisation strategies.

Embracing decarbonisation: A regional imperative

Ms Kylie Porter, CEO of GW3, emphasises the important role of the Decarbonisation Accelerated Summit in steering regional businesses towards a sustainable future. She states, “This summit will be a pivotal event for our region’s businesses, charting a course towards unlocking new value stream opportunities associated with decarbonisation in the Greater Whitsunday region.”

The summit aims to convene thought leaders, industry experts, and innovative minds to explore the transformative potential of decarbonisation. Renowned international trend specialist, Michael McQueen, renowned for his insightful presentations, will shed light on the global shifts toward decarbonisation and the local actions necessary for impactful change.

Sustainable development specialist Cle-Anne Gabriel will equip businesses with the tools to embark on their net zero journeys. Drawing from her extensive experience, she will present practical case studies and insights gleaned from advising on sustainability and decarbonisation projects across various international platforms.

The summit will feature leading decarbonisation experts and industry leaders, including representatives from BHP, the Clean Energy Council, Main Sequence, Sedgman, Cauldron, and the Sustainable Minerals Institute. These voices will offer invaluable perspectives and strategies for driving decarbonisation efforts across sectors.

Collaborative efforts for a sustainable future
