Budderfly announced it helped Connecticut electrohydraulic controller company OEM Controls with a large-scale energy efficiency partnership expected to cut the facility’s annual energy use by more than 30%.

Through the turnkey agreement with Budderfly, OEM Controls’ 75,000-ft2 Shelton facility will upgrade its energy infrastructure, including a new 230-kWDC rooftop solar system, replacement of 18 outdated HVAC units with ultra-high performance models and extensive LED lighting retrofits.

These improvements will contribute to a brighter, safer and more comfortable work environment for employees and bolster system reliability by minimizing downtime and increasing site productivity. Budderfly will manage energy performance so OEM can stay focused on meeting its business goals and serving customers.

For mid-sized manufacturers like OEM Controls, energy costs are a growing challenge. The manufacturing sector also remains one of the most challenging to decarbonize due to energy-intensive operations, long equipment lifecycles and the high cost and disruption of upgrades.

“Aging infrastructure and rising energy costs are common challenges in manufacturing, and partnering with Budderfly is helping us address both head-on,” said Keith Simons, co-president of OEM Controls. “By modernizing our systems, we’re proving that even mid-sized manufacturers can take decisive, cost-effective steps toward a more sustainable, resilient future.”

The project will also integrate Budderfly’s real-time energy monitoring and data management platform, allowing OEM Controls to track savings and verify emissions reductions to comply with detailed sustainability reporting requests from major customers. This visibility will help the company demonstrate measurable progress toward sustainability goals while identifying additional opportunities to reduce costs and environmental impact.

“This partnership proves that the future of manufacturing isn’t decades away, it’s happening right now,” said Al Subbloie, CEO of Budderfly. “We’re showing that you can transform a facility’s energy infrastructure overnight with no upfront cost, no complexity and immediate impact.”
