Media Release

Australia’s commercial and industrial energy storage market is growing rapidly as businesses look to reduce electricity costs, improve energy resilience, and take advantage of available battery incentives. However, deploying large-scale battery systems can still be complex, often involving extensive cabling, lengthy installation times, and significant on-site assembly. Fox ESS is aiming to change that with the Australian launch of its new POWER BEAST commercial battery platform.

POWER BEAST combines the Fox ESS H3 Plus Hybrid Inverter with the CQ7 High Voltage Storage Battery to deliver a scalable, modular, and simplified energy storage solution for commercial and industrial (C&I) applications.

A new approach to commercial battery storage

As energy costs continue to rise and grid reliability becomes increasingly important, more Australian businesses are investing in battery energy storage systems. Commercial batteries can help reduce peak demand charges, improve solar self-consumption, provide backup power, and support participation in emerging energy markets.

However, many traditional commercial battery systems remain complicated to install.

According to Fox ESS, the new POWER BEAST platform has been specifically designed to overcome these challenges.

“Traditional commercial battery systems often require extensive cabling, multiple connection points, and significant on-site assembly,” said Brooks Richard Geng, APAC & Middle East Managing Director at Fox ESS.

“POWER BEAST combines a compact dual-stack design with fast, plug-and-play installation, reducing system height and installation complexity. By integrating the H3 Plus with the scalable CQ7 platform, we are helping partners lower costs, save space and deliver C&I projects with greater confidence.”

Designed for scalability and flexibility

At the heart of the POWER BEAST system is the H3 Plus Hybrid Inverter, paired with modular CQ7 high-voltage batteries and the optional CQ7 Dual Tower Base.

The H3 Plus is available with AC output ratings ranging from 50 kW to 125 kW and supports up to three independent battery inputs. This flexibility allows installers and project developers to tailor system sizing to suit a wide range of commercial applications.

When combined with CQ7 batteries, a single inverter can support up to 292 kWh of storage capacity.

For larger projects, multiple POWER BEAST systems can be connected together, enabling systems to scale up to:

  • 3.125 MW / 7.35 MWh for on-grid applications
  • 1.25 MW / 2.94 MWh for off-grid applications

This scalability makes the platform suitable for various applications, including manufacturing facilities, agricultural operations, schools, commercial buildings, retail centres, and large industrial sites.

Maximising battery incentives in New South Wales

Battery incentives continue to play an important role in accelerating energy storage adoption across Australia.

Fox ESS has highlighted that POWER BEAST has been designed with incentive programs in mind, particularly for projects seeking to take advantage of the NSW Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS). For projects targeting the NSW PDRS BESS4 capacity range, a single H3 Plus 100 kW inverter paired with two CQ7 battery stacks can provide approximately 195 kWh of storage capacity.

This configuration enables projects to maximise potential incentive value while delivering substantial energy storage capacity for commercial applications.

As businesses increasingly seek to improve return on investment from battery systems, products that align with state-based incentive programs may become increasingly attractive.

Compact design reduces installation complexity

One of the standout features of POWER BEAST is its compact physical footprint.

The optional CQ7 Dual Tower Base allows two battery stacks to be mounted on a shared base while maintaining an overall system height of less than 1.3 metres. This lower profile can make transportation, handling, and installation easier, particularly in locations where space constraints are a concern.

The platform also includes pre-installed power and communication connections designed to reduce wiring requirements and minimise installation risks. Fox ESS states that module installation can take approximately five seconds, potentially reducing labour requirements and accelerating project delivery timelines.

For installers, EPCs, and distributors, reducing on-site installation complexity can translate into lower costs and improved project certainty.

An integrated energy ecosystem

Modern commercial energy projects increasingly require more than just battery storage.

Businesses are seeking integrated solutions capable of supporting solar generation, backup power, generators, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure within a single ecosystem. POWER BEAST has been designed to accommodate these evolving requirements.

The platform can integrate:

  • Solar PV systems
  • Battery energy storage
  • EPS backup functionality
  • Generator integration
  • EV charging infrastructure

This flexibility may allow businesses to future-proof their energy systems while creating a pathway towards greater energy independence and resilience.

As Australia’s commercial electrification journey accelerates, integrated platforms that simplify energy management are likely to become increasingly important.

Supporting Australia’s commercial energy transition

Australia’s transition towards renewable energy is creating significant opportunities for commercial and industrial battery storage.

Businesses are increasingly seeking solutions that can help reduce operating costs, manage energy price volatility, and improve resilience during grid disruptions. At the same time, installers and project developers are looking for systems that can simplify deployment and reduce installation risks.

By combining the H3 Plus Hybrid Inverter, modular CQ7 battery storage, and the Dual Tower Base accessory, Fox ESS has developed a platform specifically aimed at addressing these market needs. The launch of POWER BEAST adds another option to Australia’s growing commercial battery market and highlights the continued evolution of scalable, modular energy storage technologies.

As battery incentives continue to expand and businesses increasingly embrace electrification, solutions that combine flexibility, scalability, and ease of installation are likely to play an important role in supporting Australia’s clean energy future.
