Cedar Creek Energy, Connexus Energy and Kearsarge Energy have brought Minnesota’s first solar project built on a Minnesota Pollution Control Agency-managed closed landfill online.
“This project represents what’s possible when utilities, developers, regulators and state leaders work together toward long-term energy solutions,” said Alex Gast, chief operating officer of Cedar Creek Energy. “Cedar Creek Energy is proud to partner with Connexus Energy and Kearsarge Energy to bring the first solar array to a Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Closed Landfill site. The project transforms previously unusable land into a source of low-cost, clean energy for Connexus Energy and its cooperative members.”
The 5-MW solar array in Ramsey, Minnesota, includes single-axis tracking technology and is located on land managed through the MPCA Closed Landfill Program, which oversees more than 100 legacy landfill sites across the state.
