The California Solar & Storage Association (CALSSA) announced the line-up for Solar Battle of the Bands (SBOB), a semi-regular music competition with groups composed of U.S. solar workers.

The event will return on Thursday, February 19 to Moonshine Flats in San Diego, following the second day of the Intersolar & Energy Storage North America (IESNA). SBOB is co-hosted by CALSSA and IESNA and is a major fundraiser for CALSSA.
This year’s band line-up is Rapid Shutdown, a new group Baker Home Energy, “Café Negro” from Avila Solar and Flywheel Renewables, The Lagging Indicators from New Leaf Energy and Northerner from SnapNrack & K2 Systems.
“This event has always brought the solar community together. We all come from so many different parts of the world in this industry and on this night we all literally sing the same song. I can’t wait,” said Johan Alfsen of SnapNrack, who founded SBOB in 2011 while working at Quick Mount PV.
Doors open for the event at 7 p.m. and performances will end by midnight. SBOB is sponsored by Greentech Renewables, Aurora Solar, Lunar Energy, REC Americas, SnapNrack and Yotta Energy.
This year tickets will be free available through event sponsors — not IESNA’s website. Stop by sponsor booths at the trade show to secure a ticket.
