On June 6, 13 House Republicans sent a letter to the Senate Majority Leader and Chairman of the Finance Committee asking them to “refine” the House’s proposed changes to the IRA.
“While we were proud to have worked to ensure that the bill did not include a full repeal of the clean energy tax credits, we remain deeply concerned by several provisions, including those which would abruptly terminate several credits just 60 days after enactment for projects that have not yet begun construction, a highly restrictive and onerous FEOC regime and restrictions to transferability. This approach jeopardizes ongoing development, discourages long-term investment and could significantly delay or cancel energy infrastructure projects across the country,” the Representatives write.
Twelve of the signers voted in support of the House bill, while one of them — Rep. Andrew Garbarino, who has led efforts to preserve the IRA — was not present at the vote. But even Garbarino said he would have voted for it if he was there, according to Politico.
The bill is still working its way through Senate committees before a full vote.
